Life and Stuff

Isn't that a great blog title?

I have a 3 year old daughter, and she's really quite something. She woke up this morning her little self practically bursting with something. Practically with out pause she rambled on and on about everything. Dresses and babies filled the airwaves mostly. She was really unstoppable. Like a Tsunami.

There is snow on the ground where I live and we are muddling through January with the number of reported Tsunami victims growing every day. I received an email obituary today-- a soldier from our church was killed by a car bomb in Iraq just before Thanksgiving. He was a Captain before he had turned 30-- he was good at everything and his men loved him.

What a strange world we live in. This cyber-reality with Tsunamis and death crashing around us. The primal reality of stench and bravery along with shiny ringtones and one-click convenience.

January is a month for thought and reflection. In the moments where I look out at the snow coming down on our quiet neighborhood I've felt just there beyond words that a heavy sadness that is descending on the world-- and I think more and more of us know it.
